Detox Epsom Salt Bath

The Detox Epsom Salt Bath is a luxurious, inexpensive detox technique.

Detox Epsom Salt Bath: An Inexpensive and Effective Detox Technique

Your bath is an excellent way to gently, effectively and affordably detox your body.

How can you tell if you need to detox? The simplest answer is that unless you're living on a mountaintop and consuming nothing but organic foods and purified water, you can assume that you do. In our modern societies, we are constantly exposed to what are considered deadly chemical levels. We are ingesting potentially toxic chemicals daily in small amounts from our air, food and water, as well as through our personal habits.

Regularly taking antioxidant vitamins, eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, getting exercise and all the other activities that are usually considered healthy all play a role in helping your body eliminate toxins. If you're not doing those things on a regular basis, you can be sure that toxins are accumulating in your body's organs and tissues and you could be feeling the results of the form of fatigue. Even more serious illnesses can result.

Some of us have far greater exposure to toxins than others. For example, if you're around smoke, exhaust or chemicals for your work, or if your job requires you to use protective clothing because of chemical exposure, you might consider finding a less toxic work environment, if possible.

Here's something easy to do to gently reduce toxins: detox bathing. The Epsom Salts detox bath is one of our favorite natural methods of detoxification. It's easy to do, it requires no dietary modifications, it's inexpensive and very easy on your body. If you're ill, week, pregnant, have high blood pressure or know you've been exposed to high levels of pesticides, herbicides or other industrial chemicals, do not attempt this on your own. It is advised that you consult your physician before initiating any kind of personal detox program. You can seek out a licensed holistic practitioner who is familiar with detoxification procedures.

If you're not in the regular habit of bathing, start with only five minutes and work up to have an hour. If any time you begin to feel faint or notches remain seated in the tub, drain the water and let the feeling subside. Wait until you can climb out safely.

When you take a bath, the heat of the warm water causes blood to circulate more quickly. Perspiration is quickly and vigorously stimulated. Toxins stored in fat cells are naturally excreted as an element of the bodily fluids that are excreted in the perspiration.

How to Take the Bath

Required: Drink a quart of water before your bath. Take another quart of water with you to drink during your bath.

Optional: Start with a dry skin brushing. Play relaxing music during your bath.

Instructions:

Take a short shower.

Fill your bath tub with the hottest water you can tolerate.

Add 1/4 to 1/2 cups of Epsom Salts to the water. Over time, you can increase to as much as 4 cups for maximum effect.

Add a few drops of your favorite aroma therapy oil.

Swish the salts to help them dissolve completely.

Enter the bath tub and enjoy the heat for 15 to 20 minutes. If you feel faint or dizzy at any time, gently get out of the bath and rinse with cool water.

When you have finished bathing, drain the water from the tub and, when you feel steady, stand up and rinse in the shower. Alternate between cool and cold water to further stimulate circulation and the release of toxins.

Rest for at least 30 minutes after drying off. Your body might continue to perspire for that length of time.
